Analysis volcano deformation for determining location of the pressure source, hypocentre and magma supply as disaster mitigation efforts: case studies in Merapi volcano

چکیده

Various disaster mitigation efforts due to volcanic earthquakes and eruptions are carried out reduce the risk of casualties damage infrastructure. One such effort is conduct deformation studies. The results this study include estimating position hypocenter, pressure source, magma supply volume, so that volume material released during eruption can be estimated. With Mogi Model approach analysis Tiltmeter data on Merapi Volcano in 2016, estimated hypocentre at a depth about 1,100 2,440 m source 2,345 below peak with 21.81 million m3. same model from GPS 2010 eruption, show 2,500 2,200 before 15 These two indicate causing surface originates shallow consistent seismicity period.

Ground surface deformation patterns , magma supply , and magma storage at Okmok volcano , Alaska , from InSAR analysis : 1 . Intereruption deformation , 1997 – 2008

[1] Starting soon after the 1997 eruption at Okmok volcano and continuing until the start of the 2008 eruption, magma accumulated in a storage zone centered ∼3.5 km beneath the caldera floor at a rate that varied with time. A Mogi‐type point pressure source or finite sphere with a radius of 1 km provides an adequate fit to the deformation field portrayed in time‐sequential interferometric synth...

Deep magma transport at Kilauea volcano, Hawaii

The shallow part of Kilauea’s magma system is conceptually well-understood. Long-period and short-period (brittle-failure) earthquake swarms outline a near-vertical magma transport path beneath Kilauea’s summit to 20 km depth. A gravity high centered above the magma transport path demonstrates that Kilauea’s shallow magma system, established early in the volcano’s history, has remained fixed in...

Volcano Deformation Monitoring Using GPS

Volcanic eruptions are often very destructive events, having a massive impact on the natural and human environment. In order to mitigate the effect of volcanic hazards such as pyroclastic flows, lahars and tsunamis it is necessary to closely monitor volcanoes. Ground surface deformation is recognised as a reliable indicator of an impending eruption and can give clues to magmatic processes at de...

Interferometric synthetic aperture radar study of Okmok volcano, Alaska, 1992–2003: Magma supply dynamics and postemplacement lava flow deformation

[1] Okmok volcano, located in the central Aleutian arc, Alaska, is a dominantly basaltic complex topped with a 10-km-wide caldera that formed circa 2.05 ka. Okmok erupted several times during the 20th century, most recently in 1997; eruptions in 1945, 1958, and 1997 produced lava flows within the caldera. We used 80 interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) images (interferograms) to stu...

Ground surface deformation patterns , magma supply , and magma storage at Okmok volcano , Alaska , from InSAR analysis : 2 . Coeruptive deflation , July – August 2008

[1] A hydrovolcanic eruption near Cone D on the floor of Okmok caldera, Alaska, began on 12 July 2008 and continued until late August 2008. The eruption was preceded by inflation of a magma reservoir located beneath the center of the caldera and ∼3 km below sea level (bsl), which began immediately after Okmok’s previous eruption in 1997. In this paper we use data from several radar satellites a...
